Back Alley Woodworks is built around the idea of fine furniture. We do everything from repairing your run of the mill kitchen chair to restoring and even reproducing the finest antiques. We also build custom furniture and revel in the process of crafting your whims and wishes from wood.
Though we are well versed in nearly all phases of woodworking, from curved stair building to Japanese style post and beam garden bridges, we prefer to focus on small scale jobs where our attention can be more easily focused.
We offer the following services:
-Furniture restoration and repair
-Refinishing and finish restoration
-Caning and Rushing
-Custom Furniture building
-Wooden canoe repair and restoration
Started by Raymond van Dale, a fifth generation woodworker and is now run by his two sons, Jed at the Wakefield shop and Adam at the Tiverton shop.
With a combined eighty-odd years of experience in everything from commercial design and homebuilding to instrument making and restoration, Back Alley can provide you with informed solutions to any of your woodworking needs.
While it’s true that we did not build the “Spruce Goose”, given the chance we’d be more than willing to try!
